Interview at Drexel!

I got an interview at Drexel!

On behalf of the Medical Student Admissions Committee of Drexel University College of Medicine, we are pleased to invite you for an interview, information session and a tour of the College of Medicine.

Most medical schools, in their interview invitation just tell you the date that you're going to interview, making it really difficult to reschedule if you have a legitimate conflict. Drexel, though, forwarded me to a website through which I could choose my interview date. Very convenient. I scheduled for January 30th - it feels so far away, such a long wait. But getting into medical school is like traveling: lots of hurry-up-and-wait.

Secondary Application: George Washington

I got my first invitation for a secondary application from GW!

Different medical schools handle the secondary application phase in different ways. Some schools, like GW, offer a secondary application to everyone who applied during the primary phase. Other schools like UCSD use the primary application to weed out applicants, selecting based on GPA or MCAT scores.

Also, some schools require numerous essays specific for that school, while other schools only ask for minimal or short essays, or no essay at all.

GW asked me to write the following essay, restricted to just 10 lines: "What is your specific interest in the MD Program at GW? What opportunities would you take advantage of as a student here?"

AMCAS primary application submitted

I finally submitted my primary application! The big question is how many schools to apply to? Is a dozen too much? Too few? I talked to some people who applied to two dozen schools or more, and I also have friends who applied to half a dozen or fewer. So, what's right for me? Here's the list of schools that I decided on. Thirteen's my lucky number.
